Get a Library Card

How to qualify for a library card
You must live in Shelby County, Kentucky, or if you are a member of the following libraries, you may also obtain a card:
If you are a resident of a county not listed above and wish to become a member of SCPL, there is a $25.00 one-time membership fee. Contact us for more information.
We are required to see proof of address. Please show your photo ID or a piece of mail that matches your ID to a circulation associate next time you’re at the library so we can verify your information.
There’s no age requirement to obtain a library card, but children 16 years or younger must have a parent or guardian agree to be the responsible party for the materials borrowed.
